Another Retro 1988 datasheet for PixarRetro 1988 Pixar Datasheet

I’ve been hearing from some people around the office thatthe Disney Pixar movie Wall-E is pretty good. I’ll have to check it out.

Hearing that Pixar has another movie out reminded me about aproject I worked on a few years back. Well, actually it was way back in 1988. Iwas still pretty wet behind the ears as a Graphic Designer. There was this up and coming Animation company that needed some data sheets designed. I wanted the page to have a 3-D look and feel. But we didn’t have Adobe Photoshop or any fancy rendering programs. We did have the latest and greatest Apple Macintosh computer, it was a Mac IIx. Photoshop was still a postscript dream. This was two years before Photoshop would be released. To achievethe look I had in mind, without photoshop, we had to draw ink keylines on art boards with air bush art on overlays for shadows and details. Then the printer’s film department had to “strip” everything together and make f CMYK film negs, then make a Color Key or Chromaline proof. This was done by direct contact from the CMYK negatives. Sure is a heck of a lot easier and faster with today’s technology. The young up and coming company was, PIXAR.
