Call it "Creative Venting." At the time I was cranking out one project after another. I had a little down-time. I was catching my breath and thinking to my self, "When does the next magic show start." You know those projects that give you nothing to start with, and you have to... "Pull a rabbit out of a hat." Again and Again, one rabbit after another. So, I had a little non-billable time and desided to design a Magic Show Poster for my office door. I had fun with some of the copy. I look like a sinister magician. But what magician wouldn't be if he had a Gatling Gun firing purple spheres.

It's nice to get away from work. But do we ever leave our work at the office. Working in an Advertising Agency is one thing, but I never really get away. It was my birthday weekend and Anita and I headed for Yosemite. My trusty Nikon D80 at my side. Yes, and Anita by my side as well. Let not forget my wonderful wife who feels her husband spends too much time thinking about advertising and design, even after he has wrestled the San Jose commute and is at home relaxing. What can I say, I love what I do. So even dowloading my weekend photos I have to tweak them and see if I can get more. It was Yosemite, how could you not get wonderful photos. Here is my favorite. I pushed the hues. I'll have to do some testing to see if i can get it to print as powerful as it is on a monitor.

Another one of my pet projects is 40div-ww2.com . I've always had an interest in WW2 history. Primarily because my Grandfather served in the Pacific Theatre. Like all my pet projects, they have to take a back seat to the more important -- Family and Work. That's not always easy when you combine two of your passions into one. I love designing, its what I do as a Creative Director for an Advertising Agency in the Silicon Valley. I also like to spend my free time designing websites for my research. Currently I'm in the process of doing a ground up revision to my WW2 site. Here is a beta look at the design. I need to free up some time.

Well, I'm pretty deep into my revision of Izzomac.com version 2.0. I might have jumped the gun and updated too soon. I should of held back and rolled out the new design in Joomla version 1.5. Nevertheless I'm moving a head. Then I'll start looking into the nuts and bolts of the newer version. For now I'm focused on learning more about Joomla. Is Joomla a solution for me to implement for clients. I wouldn't recommend it. Not to imply that it isn't worhty. It just that it Open Source and support is questionable. Plugins and modules come from a community of dedicated individuals who develop solutions that add to the growth of Content Management Systems. This isn't a problem if you're a developer, "Code Guy", but I'm a "Graphics Guy". My focus is on Advertising and Design
But for my personal site and personal growth I think it's the greatest. It affords me the opportunity to get a better understanding of CMS's, and stay up on web design. On the web, content is king. So it makes sense to use a CMS when building any site that will have growing content. The was a moment in history that we thought that a “Flash” powered site was the answer to the “static site”. Remember the “skip intro pages”. Flash is a great tool but not an answer. CMS is just a smarter way to look at the web. It's not for everyone. But it's the perfect solution to meet my needs.
Inset photo is a look back at Version 1.0's header.
Basically, I need a change. The old design didn't take advantage of the CMS and didn't really feel like ME.
